It is promoting its 10 caves that appear on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the 'Camino' or St James' Way, that runs along the coast, the Carbárceno park, and Santander's bid to be chosen European Capital of Culture in 2016, not to forget Comillas and its nascent International Centre for Higher Spanish Studies, specialising in teaching and promoting the Spanish language and culture.
The five big themes of Cantabria’s proposal for the 30th edition of the International Tourism Fair in Madrid will be the basis for spreading the word about its culture, history and nature, which are the main attractions for holidaymakers visiting a region that stands out in sectors such as rural tourism, food and drink, culture, sports and nature, thanks to its 37 protected areas under the standard of the Picos de Europa National Park.
CANTABRIA is also providing information about the Tourism-Cultural Walks Programme for 2010 entitled Por los Caminos de Cantabria (Along the paths of Cantabria) and surfing in the municipality of Ribamontán al Mar.
