FITURTECH 2010 ready to go!

The 4th edition of Fiturtech gets under way. The space dedicated to innovation and technology applied to tourism has been held every year since 2007 as part of FITUR and is organized jointly with the ITH. The main objective of the new edition is that participants can leave with something that they can apply directly to their businesses, the very day after Fiturtech. Emphasis has been placed on the highly practical side of the sessions, which for the first time include evening conferences featuring interactive workshops.

Mobility, geolocalization, real-time data and virtual reality are the topics that will open the first session of Fiturtech 2010. These are all current issues dealing with technological innovation within the sector. How is real-time data affecting the web, what will the practical applications of virtual reality be, and what exactly are the new tools for geolocalization? These will be the main topics discussed at Fiturtech 2010, under the direction of Borja Rodríguez, Director of Grupo Almia and Geoportales, followed by a round table chaired by Patricia Fernández, Managing Director of the CEHAT foundation. In the evening, a video marketing workshop will be held, headed by Lasse Rouhianen, in which the keys to designing marketing campaigns using video and the internet will be revealed.

Another of the topics under the spotlight is tourism websites of the future. The perspectives of the hotelier, the destination and the tourism professional will be key, and the event will feature contributions by such prominent figures as Tirso Maldonado, CEO of Socialtec, Joantxo Llantada, Expert from the Marketing and Markets Department the Tourist Agency of Valencia, Pedro Anton, CEO of Segittur and promoter of Spain.info 2.0, and Eduard Bosch from the Gremi d' Hotels of Barcelona. This event will be followed by a meeting organized by the Institute of Business, which will bring innovative tourism projects into contact with “Business Angels”, or patrons of new businesses for young entrepreneurs. The evening conference will be devoted to web analytics, a system that enables the creation of “the perfect website” from the viewpoint of positioning, optimization and control of use and visits by internet users.

Finally, on Friday 22, the main topic will be “storytelling”, or how to promote your product by means of a story which, if narrated using the right expressions, will create customer loyalty and capture the attention of potential users or customers. It is a marketing method that is producing very positive results for companies and marketing directors alike. That same morning, the second meeting of the Hostelur Community will be held, as well as the third international meeting of Bloggers at Fiturtech, which will make good of the 2.0 philosophy or the networking opportunities before, during and after the event.

In the words of Mr. Álvaro Carrillo of Albornoz, Managing Director of the ITH: “This is an edition that offers more solutions, good practice case studies and tools than any other Fiturtech edition in the past. That was our objective: that everything shown in Fiturtech could be put into practice the very next day. This edition examines the world of technological innovation without the distance that new technologies tend to create, and with the conviction that the hotel sector will be able to learn a lot at the 2010 edition of Fiturtech”.
