Fitur puts the finishing touches to preparations for its 30th edition

The countdown to the opening of FITUR on 20 January has begun. In 2010, the 30th anniversary edition, the trade fair will be opened by Their Majesties King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, who will tour the halls were FITUR is taking place at the Feria de Madrid. Their Majesties will see the latest projects and products from the national and international sector at FITUR, as well as those around which the intensive business activity so characteristic of the event will centre.

Among the many new features to be found, this year the trade fair will be attended for the first time by official representatives from countries such as Ghana, Uganda and Kuwait, and territories such as Abu Dhabi. Likewise, there will be new sections such as INBOUND SPAIN, INVESTOUR and FITUR GREEN, to boost business activity, encourage tourism development in the African continent and give impetus to the introduction of energy saving systems in accommodation.

In addition, a comprehensive programme of technical conferences has been organised, which includes FITURTECH, those held by the Spanish Association of Scientific Experts on Tourism (AECIT) conference; the conference organised by the World Tourism Organisation to analyse Perspectives and responses for stimulating recovery and a conference analysing the potential of the tourism sector in the Mediterranean, the 10th Euro-Mediterranean Forum. Meanwhile, the employment Workshop FITUR-ANESTUR-TURIJOBS will be back to inform future professionals about the job situation in the industry.

The first FITUR Get-Together for Travellers for the general public will be held over the weekend. This has been organised jointly with MINUBE.com, the travellers’ social network. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the Folklore Festival of the Peoples of the World, an event that has already become a successful highlight of FITUR, featuring traditions and dances from around the world.

These activities, and all the events being held at FITUR, will be listed in the FITUR Practical Guide 2010. The guide will help trade professionals and members of the public to organise their visits to the Trade Fair, and to make sure that they do not miss out on any of the events, which include everything from product launches to press conferences and samplings.
